Pretty good.

I'm a tough judge though. Longer. This is a WIP. You can use this to go somewhere. Add to it, expand on it, and I think you may have something. This doesn't loop very well, so make it a song!

sg-06 responds:

7 seems like a high score for a tough judge...but I'll take it. ;)

This song entered a point where I couldn't think of anything to add to it without a decline in quality.
It's a valid point, though.

Decent stuff.

That little repetitive whistley sound is annoying. Other than that criticism, this is a good loop, energetic, cartoony. I like it.

ItsTheAshtray responds:

Hey thanks!
You're right about the whistley sound. Now I can't seem so ignore it!

Very NICE

I must be hearing the remastered version, because this sounds great. I think you are making huge leaps! Congrats on your baptismal! God Bless!

TheWisestMagi responds:

Haha, looks like you already saw the piece anyway =P. Thanks man, when I get my next piece done hopefully it will be a leap beyond this too ;). I'll have to keep up with you, seeing how we both only put out a song every few months =).

Thanks for the congratulatory remarks!
God Bless you too.

Screw those hippy bastards!

Hey you're doing fine! I get these lame bastards whining about the repetitiveness of my stuff all the time, but it is DANCE music, every club on the planet has repetitive stuff! I like ths jungle ambiance, and I think your work is coming a looong way! Keep it up, I'm proud of you!

TheWisestMagi responds:

Haha, you tell em' man. Yeah I know about the repetitive thing, I try to ignore it but when you listen to any song there is SOMETHING going on during nearly the entire song except during certain parts, only some jazz and classical that I can think of are possible exceptions to that. Thanks man, I should have better stuff out by the end of summer though =).

Dude

The ambient intro is amazing, the clarity, wow! You really do an awesome job with transitions and adding new elements into the piece. I'm not a big D&B fan, but this was not repetitive at all. This actually remainds me of some mixing that my friend Jermel did. This is just badass. I couldn't do better if I tried, and boy have I tried hard!

Rig responds:

Thank you very much for the vote of confidence! :D
This was like my second serious attempt at DnB too. I seem to have a knack...

NICE

You should also do the title from MMX3, that would be neato! What programs are you using, anyway? I plan on buying Reason once I upgrade to a desktop.

Zero-Resurrected responds:

I use 3 programs:
1. FL Studio XXL
2. Reason 3.0
3. Guitar Pro 5

Very awesome!

Well, I promised to review stuff, and here I go! I gotta say the instrument arrangement compliments what the composers were originally doing like 14 years ago. I can actually see this as the theme in an updated version of the game, which I can;t say for over half of theMMX remixes out there, so good job!!

Zero-Resurrected responds:

Thanks for the review Aresdev! I enjoy hearing from fans of my work.

Pretty good for number one!

MIDI, not bad at all, very well written. Sounds like it could be a Final Fantasy soundtrack. (An older one only because it is MIDI) This loops pretty well, and is pretty clear. I think the only gripe I have is that it is slightly repetitive. I think youhave something going, so keep up the good work!!

TheWisestMagi responds:

Thank you!

I do think that I could have done more with dynamics though, like when the low part takes over the melody from the beginning that the middle part starts, I think that I should have crescendoed the mid-stringed part when it comes in with it's little melody.

Also, this song was basically based off of purely inspiration because I really don't konw my way around the program enough to use all of the effects.

But thanks for the constructive feedback Aresdev!

Pretty good, man!

I liked this a lot. Thanks for the review by the way! The only thing about this I would change would be the volume of the overlaying beat. Great beat, but distracts from the rest of the piece. Other than that, it was awesome!

residentevilrulz responds:

thanks!

After a 3 year hiatus, spent mostly perfecting my live mixing chops and playing football, I've decided to come out of retirement. I have new ideas and will start by uploading some remastered selections, followed by new material.
